We love hearing from our customers!  We received an e-mail recently from Carlos in Tucson who just sodded his backyard, and has a new play area for his son.  We wanted to share, as it is always fun to know that our customers are happy because of their new lawns!   He can’t keep the kids off of it 🙂  We think it looks FANTASTIC!

Thanks Carlos!!

Jay,

So you talked me into it, I’m going to install Sea Spray in my backyard.  As we speak, I’m having the yard cleared and leveled.  My question, is there any variation to the soil preparation for this installation compared to a bermudagrass?

A couple notes:  I’m in Tucson, assume the yard is starting bare and I’m going to have to lay all new topsoil/mulch.

Thanks, Carlos

Carlos,
The prep instructions will be the same as they are for bermudagrass that are listed on my blog.  I have attached a copy for you to view.  The most important thing to remember about Sea Spray is that you should only use organic fertilizers and 2-3 apps per year is enough.  You can use either sand or topsoil to do your leveling after you rototill.

Jay,

I got the Sea Spray delivered last night and I finished the install at noon.  With 2 weekends of prepping the soil using your advice I’m happy to say the pictures do not do it justice.  My kid loves his new back yard.  Well, I hadn’t touched it since October since I had given up on it.

I’m looking forward to the enjoying our new play area.

Attached are some before after shots, thanks again for inspiring me to get this done.
